On Wednesday, April 10th, Goodwill Columbus and the Harmony Project hosted ‘We Can Be Superheroes,’ a transformative show of music, dance, and storytelling. From beginning to end, the show aimed to empower the audience and participants to understand their superpowers and utilize them for good in their lives!
The show kicked off with an energizing choral performance of “Put A Little Love in Your Heart” and “We Are Family,” led by soloist Janae Miller. The show explored various methods for participants to creatively express themselves, including dance numbers, guitar duets, impactful poetry readings, and powerful storytelling from participants in Goodwill Columbus’ Work & Community Services and Adult Day Services.
In the musical number, “Turn It Around,” participants acted out a story of personal struggles and tribulations to then show us how to trailblaze through difficult moments to find our resilience and strength. The title track, “Turn It Around,” an original song created in collaboration with We Amplify Voices (WAV), brought the room together in embracing community and supporting one another. Each moment on stage was a testament to the strength of the community and the superpowers within each one of us to uplift each other.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success, from our dedicated employees and participants who worked hard to prepare for the show, to our community partners and attendees who showed their unwavering support. Special thanks go to the students and teachers from Red Oak Community School and Mohler Elementary School for joining us and adding their energy to the show!

About the Harmony Project
The Harmony Project’s mission is to build a more inclusive society by breaking down social barriers, bridging community divides and empowering the voices of the people through arts, education, and volunteerism. We bring people together through music, art, and service, and in doing so, Harmony challenges people to face their own biases head-on, to disrupt the dissonance between us, embrace our differences, and build social harmony.
