This year, “National Digital Inclusion Week” (October 7-11) highlights the urgency of bridging the digital divide and providing opportunities for individuals to improve their digital literacy. Digital Skills Hub Kicks off – October 7-10
At the Ohio Means Jobs Franklin County Job Center, the launch of the Digital Skills Hub program provides an invaluable opportunity for individuals seeking to enhance their digital capabilities. With registration open to the public, participants of all skill levels are able to dive into lessons on computer navigation, Google applications, online safety and more. Additionally, participants receive a large screen device upon completion of the program The Digital Skills Hub program helps bridge the gap for those who may be new to technology or those who want to take their careers to the next level. Digital Skills Workshop with Alvis – October 7-10
Goodwill Columbus and Alvis continue to work together with a digital skills learning opportunity designed specifically for Alvis EDGE participants. Over four days, participants gain tools essential for their reintegration, enabling them to confidently navigate the digital workforce. This program underscores how focused efforts can create life-changing opportunities for individuals seeking a fresh start.
Career Fundamentals for CDL Training Participants – October 7-11
For those enrolled in our Roads2Work CDL program, National Digital Inclusion Week also highlights a pivotal opportunity. At our Goodwill Columbus North High Job Training Center, participants will take part in a Career Fundamentals training focused on essential job readiness skills with a digital emphasis. From resume writing to learning how to work with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), this training ensures that CDL trainees are not just prepared to drive trucks, but also equipped with the digital tools needed to succeed in the job market.
Drop-in Digital Skills Workshops at Columbus Metropolitan Libraries – October 7-10
Meanwhile, at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, the community has open access to drop-in Digital Skills workshops throughout the week. These ongoing classes, available year-round, offer lessons in computer basics, digital finance, online safety, spreadsheet creation, and more—ensuring that everyone in the community, regardless of their background or experience, has the chance to improve their digital literacy. This effort, in collaboration with Columbus Metropolitan Library, reflects Goodwill Columbus’s commitment to making technology accessible to all.
