Services for Individuals with Intellectual and Development Disabilities

We believe in opportunity for all.

Goodwill Columbus is a proud provider of person-centered, employment-focused services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). We offer support from community integration and self-advocacy to work readiness and job opportunities within Goodwill and our trusted partners.

Adult Day Services

Goodwill Columbus is an experienced, known leader in the field of IDD/DD (intellectual/developmental disabilities). Our Adult Day Services provide individualized care that encourages growth and learning for adults with disabilities across Franklin County.

Adult Day Services offers individuals the opportunity to learn, grow and advance through exploration and volunteerism in the communities where they live. This method allows for learning in a natural environment. While most of the individuals we serve participate in community-based experiences full-time, we are proud to still offer center-based services for select individuals.

Both community-based and center-based services focus on experiences to enhance greater independence, self-advocacy, and choice. Community-based services can involve volunteering, exploring, and learning through a variety of recreational or leisure activities. Center-based services may include anything from participating in health and wellness activities, cooking, attending the Goodwill Columbus Art Studio, or playing a game with peers.

Goodwill Columbus gladly provides non-medical transportation to transport individuals to and from their homes to center locations and/or community activities.

Work & Community Services

At Work and Community Services, we empower individuals with developmental disabilities, the majority of whom have been dually diagnosed with a developmental disability and mental illness.

As specialists in this area with a high staff-to-participant ratio, we are uniquely qualified to help individuals learn work and social skills. We provide adult day support, community-integrated work and activity opportunities, vocational habilitation, activity groups and socialization programs, all in a safe, structured and caring environment.

The intensive needs of every person enrolled in Work and Community Services are met, including comprehensive behavior services and onsite Mental Health Support.

Residential Services

Goodwill Columbus’ Residential Services have served as a lifeline for hundreds of people with disabilities living in their own homes around Central Ohio.

Each week, we provide over 7,000 hours of in-home services at more than 90 homes in Franklin County. We offer 24-hour on-call support, and our staff is trained to address many vital needs, including medication administration, CPR, first aid, behavior support and crisis intervention.
