 Goodwill Columbus offers the following programs, spanning 4 to 12 weeks that prepare participants for in-demand, living-wage jobs. Classes offered include basic and intermediate office skills, introduction to computers, medical office specialist, customer service, hospitality & lodging, retail skills training and STNA – some with the option of certification.

IT Career Pathway

Keyboarding

  • Goodwill’s keyboarding course is designed to help participants develop speed and accuracy by learning the touch operation of alphanumeric/keyboard characters. Emphasis is placed on learning correct keyboarding techniques with improvement of speed and accuracy stressed throughout the course through the following: mastery of the keyboard with desirable keyboarding techniques; development of speed and accuracy; and proper care of the equipment. Keyboarding is foundation for developing entry-level skills for business careers.

 Intro to computers

  • Computer Concepts
    • Using printed materials and GCFLEARN the customer will learn the inner workings of a PC and how it interacts with software. This course also presents information about today’s technological society
  • Windows Basics
    • A brief introduction to windows operating systems and the most important things you'll need to know; how to create folders, work with files, adjust settings, and much more.

    • Designed to acquaint customers with the basics of the Internet and E-mail usage.

Core Office Skills

  • To prepare customers for entry-level positions in the clerical field. To achieve the objective of clerical employment, skills will be developed in Word, Excel, keyboarding (typing and 10-key), filing/faxing/copying, telephone techniques, computer concepts, internet/email, Windows, and human relations.
