Locally, Goodwill Columbus helps meet the needs of all job seekers, including specialized programs for youth, seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities, criminal backgrounds and other specialized needs. Last year, Goodwill Columbus’ Workforce Development team helped place 353 individuals into competitive employment with 177 local employers. We currently provide credentialed training programs for careers in industries such as hospitality & lodging, information technology and health care - to name a few. Also in 2015, Goodwill successfully launched Creative Employment Solutions (CES), which bridges the gap between day programs and workforce development, providing specialized job services for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Resources for Job Seekers
The Workforce Development Department at Goodwill Columbus provides jobseekers with a customized plan for obtaining employment, utilizing a case management approach to ensure that you receive the resources or training that you need. All Goodwill Columbus programs include an intake which assesses a person’s resources, needs, and strengths, and we take into account the unique challenges facing many unemployed and underemployed individuals.
Goodwill Columbus serves jobseekers in central Ohio, aged 18 or older, facing barriers to employment, such as criminal justice histories, homelessness, little or no work history, lack of education and specialized training, language barriers, and being dislocated. We also serve jobseekers who have physical, developmental, or mental health disabilities. Goodwill Columbus also offers specialized workforce development programs for women, jobseekers with disabilities who are on the RSC waitlist and veterans.
Goodwill Columbus’s state-of-the-art training facility is fully ADA compliant. Goodwill Columbus offers the following services free of charge.
- Resume and application assistance
- Career Bootcamp: 60 hours total of mock interview experience, resume development, job search and placement assistance, and business etiquette
- Access to Goodwill’s Resource Room: job postings, fax machine, copier, computers with free Internet access, and telephones
- Weekly computer basics classes
- Weekly networking groups
- Referrals to other community services
- Financial literacy classes
- Training on adaptive equipment for people with disabilities

Goodwill Columbus offers several employment skills training courses to prepare clients for careers in living wage paying professions, including nurse’s aides, clerical and medical office specialists, customer service, and office skills. Several courses have an industry-recognized credentialing option.
