Goodwill Columbus Art Studio & Gallery Exhibitions Will Showcase Artists With Disabilities

The creative work of artists with disabilities will be the focus of six planned exhibitions at the Goodwill Art Studio and Gallery as Goodwill Columbus continues to celebrate its 75th year in central Ohio.
“We hope the exhibitions will entice more people to visit our Edgehill Road gallery and to open their minds to our artists’ work,” said Holly Adkins-Ardrey, Director of the Goodwill Columbus Art Studio and Gallery.
The Goodwill Art Studio & Gallery is an innovative fine arts program serving more than 80 people with developmental disabilities and other barriers each year. The first exhibition, “A Place To Call Home,” features the work of more than 12 individuals.
The Goodwill Art Gallery, located at 1331 Edgehill Road in Grandview, has recently undergone major renovation to allow for better presentation of the work made in the studio.
“We’re offering our participants a chance to not only express themselves artistically, but to be financially compensated for their work that is sold,” Adkins-Ardrey said. “For many, it is the first time they’ve ever received a paycheck. We want to get their work in front of as many eyes as possible.”
In addition to the gallery, individuals may purchase original art and products such as mugs, clothing and other goods on the Gallery’s web page at www.goodwillart.org.
“Some of our artists have developed a following, and their work has been featured in art contests and exhibitions around central Ohio,” Adkins-Ardrey said. “This is a chance for other artists in the studio to gain exposure and find their creative voice.” Please see the attached listing of upcoming exhibitions at the Goodwill Art Studio and Gallery.
